Emerald Ash Borer Beetle is destroying Ash trees in Michiana!
First discovered in the US Michigan in 2002, this invasive pest has destroyed millions of Ash trees across Michigan, Indiana, Ohio & Pennsylvania. Many townships in Michiana are seeing damage to Ash trees already & have quarantines in place. Left untreated, your Ash trees are susceptible to death from this pest.
What can be done to save your trees?
We can inject a systemic insecticide newly introduced to control this beetle. Just like an "IV" you would get from a doctor, this insecticide is injected into the vascular system & distributed throughout the tree. The entire tree is protected & any chewing of leaves by the beetle, or feeding by the larvae causes death to the insect. This method can provide 2-3 years of control.
The other method is by deep root feeding injection. A mixture of water & insecticide is pumped into the root zone of the tree that is then taken into the tree by it's normal feeding. This application has the added benefit of fertilizing the tree at the same time, as well as adding micronutrients such as Iron & Manganese. This method provides one year of protection from EAB.
